This Sunday's film is "Rope." It's Hitchcock's first color film, his first time working with actor James Stewart (Stewart would go on to do three more Hitchcock films - "The Man Who Knew Too Much," "Rear Window," and "Vertigo"), and first and only attempt at shooting a film in real-time. This film is composed of a series of ten-minute continuous takes (at that time, ten-minutes was the maximum length one could get out of a reel of film. "Rope" is based on the stage play by the same name which is in turn based on the Leopold and Loeb murder case.
While the film is not completely seamless - it's quite obvious when Hitchcock is changing reels - it does have some snappy dialogue, great moments of suspense, and some humorous moments (thrill killing an old college classmate is humorous, isn't it?).

Anyway, it should be a lot of fun.

So... Hitchcock's first color film is in black and white?
*sigh* I suppose it's a bad sign when I looked at that pic and hoped that the movie involved lynching a lawyer (sadly, IMDB says it does not).
I shall not be in attendance of "Rope". Mostly because of Ashton Steele's drunken message on my voicemail.
I shan't go into detail, but let's just say that he compared me to a fake British lord.
And if ANYTHING pisses me off, it's being compared to a British lord that's made-up.
What I got out of that drunken day:
Chad thinks I sell "widgets"
Matt thinks I'm somehow related to some fake British royal family (he should really know the family is from Chile).
X hearts me (I sorta knew that).
So...screw you guys, I'm going home.
BeeP! What in blazes are you talking about? It was Brad Hummer that left you that message. I know it's easy to get us strippers confused man, but c'mon!
And what's all this ruckus about a fake British lord? Explain yourself when you get a break from peddling all those widgets. Post haste.
Mr. Hummer,
I will reply at length only when our warehouse is completely empty of widgets.
Sincerely,
Mercedes Thurman
Hey, is this the one that has Poulenc's first Mouvement Perpetuel in it?

You are correct, Herr Neeblish

Matty,
Wish I could have been there to see this with you! I miss you, man!
