It's official, folks: I am now a mac user. After one of my wonderful office mates (Jenny Marks) let me play around on her new iBook, I decided to go to the apple store at the Mall of America (which should NEVER, under ANY circumstances, be called the MOA - we use such initials for great monuments to art such as the Museum of Modern Art /MoMA/ and the Minneapolis Institute of Art /MIA/, NOT to monuments of consumerism) and check it out more in depth. What prompted all of this? Not only the little crash my compter had over Christmas, but also the fact that a) the hinge that holds the screen up has become completely slack (or impotent if you prefer) - I have been propping the stupid thing up against chair backs, walls, and napkin dispensers, and b) the power cord decided to be really annoying in it's contact with the old laptop - if I moved it even the slightest inch, the power would completely cut out.
What did I end up getting? An iBook G4 with a 12" screen. It is completely wonderful - I can burn cds, watch dvds, and do all sorts of other happy things. They also threw in a printer which is free after a $100.00 rebate.
Note to Christina: The new Lappy looks fabulous with my Danish eyewear - both sets.
