So this story begins two or three years ago when my sister and her friend Suzy told me that I had to come up to Cafe Cravings, a coffee shop in White Bear Lake. Becky told me that there was this husband and wife singing duo that I
had to see: Tom and Cathy. Beck and Suz would call me up from the cafe on Friday nights giggling over this pair that they described as
Ron and Shiela. They sang, played guitar and folk flute (or percussive flute - Cathy's term), and wrote aging hippie self-help tunes such as "Self Esteem (is an Inside Job)" and "Who Are You Giving Your Power To?"
I decided to go to one of their events. I laughed so hard I was crying and hiding behind my coffee. These guys are unreal. Here they are:

And here's Cathy giving a motivational speech of some sort:

And taking on the persona of Ms. Catherine - her children's entertainer:

But to truly enjoy Cathy and Tom, you must go to their
website and check them out for yourself. The music clips will give you all the information you need. I think we should go to one of their gigs this summer.

Dodge, did you listen to their sample tracks? Yikes. I may have to buy their album and book Ms. Catherine for your kids' next birthday parties.
Wow, that's all KINDS of awful. That woman's voice is like fifty cats scratching a black board.
We MUST go.
I agree BP. And they're super loungy in their manner with the audience - it is a sight to behold. We should have a contest to see who can keep from breaking first.
What exactly is "driving guitar"?
Wait... I don't want to know.
Matt.
As I will be working in White Bear Lake this summer, I believe it is priority that you take me to see these people play. Plus, I am nuts when it comes to live music--I love it.
We ARE going. And we are going to dress for the occasion. I am talking "teacher" vests with apples on them, and tapered "mom" jeans. Oh, yes. Perhaps I will buy a cassette? Mmm?
P.S. She looks JUST like the mom on that show Webster.
